Ben Franklin helped negotiate the Treaty of Paris and he was the American representative to France. Ben discovered lightning as a form of electricity. He helped people have lights.

In his early life his mom often took him to the zoo. Dr.Seuss wrote children books like The Cat In The Hat and The Grinch. Dr.Seuss recorded soldiers in World War, 2 and made a movie. He wrote children’s books all around the world for children of all ages. Dr.Seuss made movies and TV shows for children. He became sick and died September 24, 1991. Children and adults enjoy his books.

Claude Monet was born in Paris, France, in 1840. His Father owned a grocery store. When he was a little boy he mostly spent his time drawing funny pictures of people. He went to 3dr grade. After a while an artist convinced him to try painting. He helped invent a style of painting called impressionism. He gave people beautiful art work. He lived until he was 92. He died in Giverny, France in 1926.

Dolly lived on a plantation in Virginia. Then her family moved to Philadelphia. Dolly married a lawyer named John Todd and had two sons. John and the baby boy died of yellow fever. Dolly then married James Madison. In 1809 Dolly became the first lady because James Madison was president. She now had a lot of money. After President Madison died she didn’t have much money, but everyone loved her. In 1849 she died.

She was born on September 2, 1948 in Framingham. Her parent’s names are Edward and Grace. Christa was the oldest of 5 children. She got married and had 2 children. She went to a state college and got a degree. She became a teacher. She was selected to go to space and be the first teacher in space. But she wasn’t the first teacher in space because when they launched the space shuttle it exploded. She died on January 28, 1986. Now girls can be astronauts too.

E.B White was born July 11,1899. He had 5 brothers and sisters. He went to high school and college. In college he worked for the student newspaper He worked at different jobs but he still wanted to be a writer. He first wrote magazine books for adults then for children. His most famous book is Charlottes Web. He married in 1929 in New York and died October 1 1985 in Maine.

Van Gogh’s feelings came out of all his paintings. Van Gogh influenced art by making his paintings move and he used thick paint. Van Gogh died in France 1890.

Martha Berry was born in Rome Georgia on October 7, 1866. She had three sisters, two brothers, a mother and a father. In her early life she lived in a house called Oak Hill. She wanted a cabin of her own so her dad built her one. She went to a boarding school and she didn’t like it there so she dropped out. During her adult life Martha Berry opened schools, but she didn’t have enough money for furniture so she traveled around the world to earn money from the government. Her major accomplishments were opening schools for the boys and girls. Martha Berry changed the world with education. She died in 1942, New York.

Helen Keller was born in 1880 in Alabama as an only child. At the age of 19 months, Helen had a terrible fever. When Helen was finally cured, her parents found out that Helen was blind and deaf. When Helen was seven years old, her parents found out that a woman named Ann Sullivan could help Helen. Ann taught Helen how to do many things. Helen grew up and went to Radcliffe College. In her adult life, Helen helped the people who were blind and deaf just like her and taught them to think they could do things other people could do. Helen kept going helping the blind and deaf until her deaf in 1968.

Harriett Tubmen
Harriett Tubmen was born in the early 1820's in Maryland. She was a slave. Harriett stared working at the age of six. She had no education. When Harriett was an adult, she escaped to Philadelphia. After that, she worked in the Underground Railroad. She helped many other slaves escaped. She helped black people become free from slavery. She died in 1913.

Famous People Introduction
This blog has been created by third graders at MPS, a primary school in the midwest. The assignment required students to choose a book about a famous person (help from the librarian), use a graphic organizer to organizer their facts about their famous person (homeroom teacher), and then transfer these facts to this blog (technology specialist and homeroom teacher).
